About the Fund
The Mai Kou Lee Scholarship of the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation was established by an ECASD family in memory of Mai Kou Lee, in celebration of Hmong heritage and English language learning with North High School and Eau Claire Area School District.
Mai Kou Lee was a beloved North High School graduate and staff member. Mai Kou began her work as a Bilingual Education Assistant at North High School in 2018, and served in the role until her passing in 2021. She also served as a General School Assistant for North High School in summers.
Accepted applicants must: be an NHS graduating senior pursuing post-secondary education. Priority for Hmong heritage, English Learner (EL) student, illustrating financial need, with GPA of 3.0+.
Criteria
All North High School seniors who plan to go on to post-secondary education will be considered for the Mai Kou Lee Scholarship. Selection will be based on:
- Intent to attend post-secondary education
- High school GPA: 3.0 or higher
- Preference for Hmong heritage, English language learner
- Illustrated financial need
Selection and Distribution
Selection will be made by the North High School Scholarship committee. One award of $500 (or more) will be announced in May and presented at the Pride Award Ceremony.
